About Shop in the Bush
Shop in the Bush is a unique and well-established destination located on Tasmania’s scenic Great Eastern Drive. Since 1982, the shop has welcomed visitors from across Tasmania and beyond, offering an extensive and distinctive collection of antiques, vintage jewellery, collectable books and other interesting treasures.
We are seeking a reliable and personable Part-Time Sales Associate to join our team. This position would suit someone who enjoys working with customers, is comfortable working independently and has an interest in antiques, vintage jewellery or collectables.
About the Role
The successful applicant will work independently in the shop and will be responsible for providing friendly and professional customer service while ensuring the day-to-day operation of the store runs smoothly.
As the role involves working alone in a relatively isolated location, we are looking for someone who is mature, trustworthy, dependable and confident working without direct supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and provide friendly, attentive and knowledgeable service.
- Assist customers with enquiries and purchases.
- Process cash and other sales transactions accurately.
- Manage and reconcile the shop cash float.
- Work independently and responsibly without direct supervision.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and well-presented retail environment.
- Monitor the shop and merchandise throughout the day.
- Provide information about antiques, vintage jewellery, books and collectables where appropriate.
- Follow shop procedures relating to cash handling, security and daily operations.

- Comfortable working independently and being responsible for the shop while on duty.
- Confident handling cash and maintaining an accurate float.

- Available to work flexible days, including Saturdays and Sundays when required.
Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred.
Experience or knowledge of antiques, vintage jewellery, collectable books or similar items would be highly regarded, although a genuine interest and willingness to learn is also valued.
