Craggy Peaks Wilderness Cabins – Fingal Valley, North East Tasmania
Permanent Part Time – 4 Days per Fortnight
Craggy Peaks Wilderness Cabins is a peaceful bushland retreat located at the base of Ben Lomond National Park, overlooking the dramatic rise of Stacks Bluff. Surrounded by native wildlife, flowing streams and quiet walking trails, guests come to Craggy Peaks to disconnect from the everyday and reconnect with nature.
Craggy Peaks Wilderness Cabins are seeking a Permanent Part Time Relief Caretaker – Guest Services to support the day‑to‑day running of the property in the absence of the onsite caretakers. This role is central to maintaining their high standards of guest experience, accommodation presentation and front‑of‑house service.
This position includes sleep‑over shifts, with an overnight stay allowance paid for each night on site.
About the Role
Working 4 days per fortnight, the Relief Caretaker oversees housekeeping, laundry, reception and guest interaction across the site. You will ensure cabins are beautifully presented, guests are warmly welcomed, and daily operations run smoothly and safely.
This is a hands‑on, varied role suited to someone who enjoys independence, takes pride in their work, and thrives in a quiet natural environment.
Key Responsibilities
Housekeeping & Laundry
- Clean and service guest cabins and shared facilities to a high standard
- Coordinate daily laundry operations, including drop‑off and collection runs to Fingal
- Use and store cleaning materials safely, following safe handling guidelines
- Maintain a positive image of the property through presentation and professionalism
Reception & Guest Services
- Manage guest check‑ins, check‑outs and general enquiries
- Provide friendly, accurate local information to enhance guest stays
- Complete daily paperwork, banking, reconciliations and reporting
- Manage online bookings, guest billing and correspondence
- Respond promptly to guest reviews, comments and questions
- Maintain up‑to‑date local tourism information
- Provide weekly handover notes to caretakers
On‑Site Presence
- Sleep‑over shifts required as part of the roster
- Be available to guests via office or duty phone during rostered hours
- Overnight stay allowance paid for each sleep‑over shift
