About the Role

St Helens Dental is seeking a friendly, organised, and professional Receptionist to join our team. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play an important role in creating a welcoming and positive experience while ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of our front office.

This position also includes assisting with infection control procedures and the sterilisation of dental instruments. Previous dental experience is desirable but not essential, as comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist patients in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Answer and direct telephone calls, take messages, and respond to general enquiries.
  • Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments.
  • Learn and use the practice management software.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and accounts.
  • Process payments using HICAPS and EFTPOS.
  • Manage specialist referrals and correspondence.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.
  • Perform general administrative duties, including data entry, filing, scanning, and photocopying.
  • Maintain organised digital and paper filing systems.
  • Ensure the reception area is clean, tidy, and welcoming.
  • Monitor office supplies and coordinate restocking as required.
  • Support the efficient operation of the dental practice.
  • Maintain established infection control standards throughout the clinic.
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilise dental instruments in accordance with infection control procedures.
  • Assist with developing dental x-rays (training provided if required).

Essential Requirements

  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Proof of current immunisations.
  • Availability to work Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and every second Thursday.

Desirable

  • Previous reception or dental experience.
  • Knowledge of HICAPS or dental practice software (not essential).
  • Experience with sterilisation or infection control procedures (training provided).
