Blue Edge Bakery is a family‑owned coastal bakery with a loyal local following and a growing reputation across Tasmania’s East Coast. Every day of the week — except Christmas on the 25th and 26th — they bake fresh bread, pastries and café favourites for locals, travellers and a wide network of restaurants, cafés and hotels. Their café and coffee trade is strong, and their wholesale baking continues to expand — both are essential parts of who they are.
They are now seeking a Front of House Bakery Assistant to join their close‑knit team. This is a full‑time role, ideal for someone who enjoys people, takes pride in their work, and thrives in a friendly, fast‑moving environment. Hospitality, cooking or coffee experience is an advantage, but enthusiasm and willingness to learn are just as important.
Bicheno sits between Douglas‑Apsley National Park and Freycinet National Park, making it one of Tasmania’s most loved seaside towns — relaxed, scenic and perfect for anyone seeking a slower pace or a sea change.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Greeting customers warmly and delivering genuine, attentive service
- Processing transactions accurately using our POS system
- Presenting bakery products attractively and hygienically
- Handling cash and card payments with care
- Maintaining a clean, organised and welcoming shop environment
- Assisting customers with product selection and answering questions
- Restocking shelves and displays throughout the day
- Supporting the preparation and presentation of bakery items
- Following food safety, hygiene and workplace procedures at all times
Who You Are
- Friendly, approachable and confident with customers
- A clear communicator who enjoys helping people
- Reliable, punctual and committed to consistent attendance
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment
- Confident with basic numeracy and handling transactions
- Proud of maintaining a tidy, professional workspace
- Flexible with early mornings and weekend shifts
- Physically capable of standing for long periods and lifting moderate weights
- Willing to learn, adapt and follow instructions
- Experience in retail or customer service is desirable
