Job Description
Seafood @ St Helens are growing their team of Farm Hand / Deck Hands, at their St Helens based oyster farm. These position are on a land and deep water based Oyster Farm. So most days include time on the water, as well as time ashore.
They are currently seeking to employ:
- 1 full-time position, (38 hours per week)
- 1 causal position (up to 38 hours per week)
Hourly rates will depend on the individuals level of experience.
Position Description
This position will require the successful applicant to undertake general farm hand duties. Tasks include, but are not limited to:
- General farm duties working on boats and on shore
- Daily maintenance and care of stock
- Grading and placement of stock
- Harvesting and packing of stock for sale
- Construction, cleaning and maintenance of farm infrastructure and stock systems
The positions available can be physically demanding and will require working outdoors and on the water in all types of weather and temperature environments.
Selection Criteria
Essential
The successful applicant must be:
- Punctual
- Reliable
- Able to work in a team environment
- Willing to learn new skills
- Able to communicate effectively
- A current driver’s licence and reliable transport is also essential.
Desirable
- Experience in an applicable field
- Knowledge of the aquaculture industry
- Coxswains certificate and forklift licence but not essential
