Job Description
Edge of the Bay – Coles Bay, Freycinet Peninsula
Full-time | Immediate Start | Supportive On-site Team
Edge of the Bay is a waterfront retreat where land, sea and sky meet. Set across 27 acres on the shores of Great Oyster Bay, our vintage chalets and ocean view studios welcome guests into a peaceful, uncrowded environment in the heart of the Freycinet Peninsula. As part of the Intrepid Stay collection, we believe travel can be a force for good – for people, place and planet.
We’re now seeking an experienced Duty Manager to join our team to help deliver the warm and thoughtful hospitality that defines Edge of the Bay.
Why Edge of the Bay?
This is a rare opportunity to work in one of Tasmania’s most spectacular coastal locations. Our property is built on connection – with nature, with our guests, and with our local community. We champion sustainability, source produce from local growers, and operate with care for Country at the forefront of every decision.
If you’re looking for a meaningful role, where your leadership genuinely shapes guest experience and team culture, this is the place to grow.
The Role
As Duty Manager, you’ll be a key operational leader across our accommodation, guest services and The Edge Restaurant & Bar. You’ll ensure smooth daily operations, uphold our high service standards, and support our team to create memorable, restorative stays for every guest.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily property operations, ensuring seamless coordination across accommodation, reception, housekeeping and restaurant service
- Act as the primary on‑shift contact for guest enquiries, feedback and problem resolution with warmth, professionalism and care
- Lead and mentor staff, fostering a positive, inclusive and supportive workplace culture
- Assist with rostering and basic administrative tasks
- Uphold Intrepid Stay’s sustainability values through thoughtful decision‑making, waste minimisation and community‑minded practices
- Ensure compliance with safety, security and operational procedures across the property
- Represent Edge of the Bay with pride, sharing local knowledge, stories and experiences that enrich each guest’s stay
About You
You’re someone who thrives in a hands‑on, guest‑focused environment. You bring calm leadership, strong communication skills and a genuine appreciation for the natural beauty and community of the East Coast.
What You Bring
- Previous experience in hospitality leadership or supervisory roles (accommodation, front office, restaurant or resort operations)
- A warm, confident and professional approach to guest service
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask across departments
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to support and guide a diverse team
- Reliability, initiative and pride in maintaining high standards
- A passion for Tasmania, sustainable tourism and community connection
What We Offer
- A supportive, close‑knit team environment
- Competitive remuneration aligned with experience
- A workplace surrounded by Sheoaks, ocean views and the dramatic Hazards mountains
- Opportunities for professional growth within the Intrepid Stay network
- A role where your work genuinely contributes to positive impact and responsible tourism
