About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Dental Assistant to join our team. You will assist the dentist during oral health procedures, maintain high standards of infection control, and support the smooth operation of the practice. Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided, so experience is preferred but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a welcoming, reassuring experience for patients and establish rapport.
- Facilitate administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments and managing patient records.
- Prepare dental chairs and treatment areas for procedures.
- Record patient information as requested by clinicians during examinations.
- Assist clinicians during dental procedures, including preparation of materials and operation of the evacuation unit.
- Maintain high infection control standards throughout the clinic.
- Prepare and reprocess dental instruments, including sterilisation and disinfection.
- Develop x-rays as required.
- Manage dental materials, stock, and supplies.
- Perform general day-to-day cleaning of the practice.
- Support the overall smooth running of the dental facility.
Requirements
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and sound judgment.
- Careful handling of sensitive equipment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively.
- Good organisational skills.
- Team player who works collaboratively.
- Proof of up-to-date immunisations (essential).
- Right to work in Australia.
Position Details
- Casual employment with casual loading as per the Health Professionals and Support Services
- Immediate start available.
- Alternating weekly roster:
- Week 1: Tuesday and Wednesday (~16 hours)
- Week 2: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (~24 hours)
