Job Description

St Helens Dental are currently looking for a vigilant and meticulous dental assistant. 

As a Dental Assistant you would assist a dentist during oral health care procedures, to help maintain high standards of infection control and to assist with practice administration.

  • To be a successful dental assistant, you should demonstrate good critical thinking and judgment, and great attention to detail. Experience preferred but not essential as you will receive on the job training.
  • The award comes under the Health Professionals and Support Services Award (MA 000027). An immediate start is available, and this will be a casual position, for up to 38 hours per fortnight.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Able to establish rapport with patients. 
  • Facilitate administrative tasks and coordinate patient appointments. 
  • Prepare the dental chair and treatment area for dental procedures. 
  • Record information as requested by the clinician on patient records during dental examinations.
  • Assist clinicians during dental procedures including preparation of dental materials and operation of the evacuation unit.
  • Maintain established infection control standards in the clinical setting and throughout the entire dental clinic the evacuation unit.
  • Prepare and reprocess dental instruments, including sterilisation and disinfection procedures.
  • Develop x-rays.
  • Manage dental materials, stock and supplies.
  • General day to day cleaning of the practice 
  • Assist in the smooth running of the dental facility.
