Position Overview
The Community Wellbeing Officer is responsible for coordinating and delivering community wellbeing initiatives that support the mental health and overall wellbeing of the Break O’Day community, with a particular focus on young people.
The role involves collaborating with Council staff, community members, stakeholders, and service providers to design, implement, and evaluate projects that foster positive mental health outcomes. The position emphasizes community connection, youth engagement, and accessibility.
The successful applicant will play a critical role in creating respectful and safe environments for community interaction, amplifying the voices of young people, and integrating their perspectives into community planning and policy development.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver community wellbeing and mental health initiatives.
- Engage with young people and the broader community to foster positive mental health outcomes.
- Collaborate with Council staff, service providers, stakeholders, and community members.
- Design, implement, and evaluate programs and projects that support community wellbeing.
- Promote inclusive, safe, and respectful environments for community interaction.
- Ensure the voices of young people are incorporated into community planning and policy development.
Selection Criteria
The ideal candidate will:
- Demonstrate a passion for strengthening mental health and wellbeing in the Break O’Day municipality.
- Have experience in delivering wellbeing, mental health, youth engagement, or community development initiatives.
- Show the ability to build respectful and genuine relationships with young people, community members, and stakeholders.
- Be committed to fostering inclusive and accessible community programs.

Employment Conditions
- Part-time role, minimum 3 days per week.
- Ordinary hours: 7:00am – 7:00pm, Monday to Friday. Office open 9:30am – 4:00pm.
- Additional hours may occasionally be required in accordance with the Enterprise Agreement.
