Job Description

About the Role

The School Canteen Supervisor is responsible for overseeing, maintaining, and delivering high-quality school canteen services. The role ensures that food preparation and service are carried out in a safe, efficient, and customer-focused manner, supporting the wellbeing of students and staff.

Working as part of the school community, the Supervisor will manage the day-to-day operations of the canteen, including ordering supplies, maintaining accurate records, and supervising staff or volunteers where required. This position contributes to the Department’s commitment to ensuring every child and young person in Tasmania is known, safe, well, and learning.

Period of Appointment:

  • Commencement: ASAP
  • End Date: 28 November 2025

Hours of Work:

  • 60 hours per fortnight (40 weeks per year)

Essential Requirements:

  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Employment Status)

Desirable Requirements:

  • Safe Food Handling or Food Safety Supervisor accreditation
  • Experience in food preparation, customer service, or hospitality
  • Ability to train, supervise, and work effectively with staff and/or volunteers
